CRIME - Bob's number one priority
Bob Neill knows that fear of rising crime and the lack of police on the beat is the number one concern for people living in the Bromley & Chislehurst area.
Recently published figures show that almost 1,000 robberies were committed in the twelve months up to April 2006 - 30% higher than in the previous year.
There have been more than 2,100 burglaries over the same year, an increase of more than 200.
Gun-related crime has soared by over 14%. After looking at the figures, Bob said;
“The rise in crime locally is alarming. I’m really concerned about the increase in gun-related crime, but I’m also determined to make sure that the growing levels of anti-social and yobbish behaviour are stamped out.
“Fighting crime will continue to be my number one priority if I am elected as the Member of Parliament for Bromley and Chislehurst. At the moment Bromley has fewer police officers per resident than virtually every other London Borough. So I’ll also demand that we get an improved allocation of London’s policing resources, giving the Borough Commander the police he needs to keep our community safe”.
